Joe Alterio

From our friends at Robots + Monsters:

Joe Alterio, the founder and creator of RobotsAndMonsters.org, is pleased to announce the re-opening of a new round of fund-raising and art-making, this time in partnership with Doctors Without Borders, to help in their efforts in Haiti.

Robots + Monsters is an innovative site that raises money for good causes by trading custom pop art for donations. Started in 2007 in desperation because Joe and his wife were $1000 short on a charity marathon, over the past three years, Robots + Monsters has gone on to raise nearly 20K for great causes like the SF AIDS Foundation, the Electronic Frontier Foundation, and Water.org.

This round is no different. The destruction and human suffering wrought by the earthquake in Haiti has touched us all, whether we have a personal connection to the country or not. Robots + Monsters is committed to help alleviate the suffering of the Haitian people by partnering with the humanitarian group, Médecins Sans Frontières (Doctors Without Borders.)

Robots + Monsters has been fortunate enough to secure the very limited drawing time of many amazing contributors from the illustration and visual arts world, like Adam Koford, John Martz, Matt Rebholz, and Molly Crabapple, as well as many others, who will all be helping out for this great cause.

This is the way we work: you donate a set amount for an original Robot or Monster, as defined by three words or phrases you provide. Then, one of our amazing artists interprets those three words or phrases any way they see fit, in the form of a robot or monster. A few weeks later, you get your amazing original art in the mail, and a large percentage of your donation goes to a great cause. Everybody wins.

Visit www.robotsandmonsters.org for more info.

If don't want an amazing piece of original art, you can donate directly to Doctors Without Borders here:  www.doctorswithoutborders.org
